2007 WINTER MEETING
TO BE IN DECATUR, AL
February 16-18
This
year's Winter Meeting of the Tennessee Ornithological Society
will be held Feb 16, 17 and 18 in our sister state at Decatur,
AL. Please attend and spend a weekend of with members of TOS
from across the state, birding, socializing and sharing ideas.
Activities will be centered at the Holiday Inn (1101 6th Ave,
Decatur, AL 35601; phone 800-553-3150).
Directions
to the Holiday Inn
From
I-65 take Exit 340 onto US Alt.72 / Alabama Hwy 20 West
Follow
Hwy 20 west for 3 miles to junction with US 31.
Angle
to the left onto US 31 South.
Continue South across the Tennessee River Bridge.
Turn right at the end of the bridge, and the hotel is on your
right.

Friday,
Feb. 16
Dinner on your own at area restaurants
6:00 PM (central time) - Reception at Holiday Inn
- Pot luck refreshments - Bring a batch of cookies, chips, nuts
or other finger foods to share with the group. Soft drinks will
be provided.
- Member Pics - A slide projector as well as a digital projector
and screen will be available for folks to share slides or digital
images of birds, TOS field trips, meetings, members, conservation
projects or whatever you wish to share with the group. If you
have images of this sort that you would be willing to contribute
for inclusion in TOS promotional material (brochures, slide
shows, posters, etc) please bring these images on a CD or DVD
and give to David Vogt (Chattanooga, Chapter).

Feb. 17
7:00 AM - field trips depart from parking lot at Holiday Inn.
Tentative destinations include:
- Wheeler National Wildlife
Refuge for waterfowl and possibly some early shorebirds.
Refuge Manager Dwight Cooley will lead TOS members into some
of the closed areas of the refuge.
- Pickwick Dam for gulls and other birds, led by TVA biologist

- Informal meeting and brainstorming session at Holiday Inn
meeting room. Discuss what would make our organization better.
Share successes that your chapter has had in regard to increasing
membership, fund raising, educational projects, conservation
efforts, etc.
