Walnut Log Road, formerly gravel and now paved, runs 2.7 miles within the Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge, ending at a boardwalk and observation tower out in the lake. Along this bottomland habitat, Cerulean Warbler and Swainson's Warbler spend their summers. At the end of Walnut Log Road, a boardwalk meanders through Bald Cypress out to an elevated observation tower in the Upper Blue Basin.

A view out from the observation tower at the end of the boardwalk. Note the Bald Cypress in the water and the marsh vegetation in the background. Clouds seem to float on the water during this sunset over the Upper Blue Basin of the lake.
